Is the Bible the Word of God? Then mind that you do not neglect it. Read it! Begin to read it this very day. What greater insult to God can a man be guilty of than to refuse to read the letter God sends him from heaven? Oh, be sure, if you will not read your Bible, you are in fearful danger of losing your soul!
Is the Bible the Word of God? Then be sure you always read it with deep reverence. Say to your soul, whenever you open the Bible, “O my soul, you are going to read a message from God!”
Is the Bible the Word of God? Then be sure you never read it without fervent prayer for the help and teaching of the Holy Spirit. Humble prayer will throw more light on your Bible than any commentary that ever was written. You will not understand it unless your heart is right. You will find it a sealed book without the teaching of the Holy Spirit. Its contents are often hidden from the wise and learned, and revealed to babes.
Is the Bible the Word of God? Then let us all resolve from this day forward to prize the Bible more. God has given us the Bible to be a light to guide us to everlasting life. Let us not neglect this precious gift. Let us read it diligently, and walk in its light.

God's Word on Humility
Philippians 2:3 Do nothing out of selfish ambition or vain conceit, but in humility consider others better than yourselves.
Philippians 2:5-7 Your attitude should be the same as that of Christ Jesus: Who, being in very nature God, did not consider equality with God something to be grasped, but made himself nothing, taking the very nature of a servant, being made in human likeness.
1 Peter 5:5-6 Likewise you younger people, submit yourselves to your elders. Yes, all of you be submissive to one another, and be clothed with humility, for “God resists the proud, but gives grace to the humble.” Therefore humble yourselves under the mighty hand of God, that He may exalt you in due time.
Luke 18:14 I tell you, this sinner, not the Pharisee, returned home forgiven! For the proud shall be humbled, but the humble shall be honored.
Proverbs 16:18 Pride goes before destruction and haughtiness before a fall.
Proverbs 29:23 Pride ends in a fall, while humility brings honor.
Matthew 18:4 Therefore anyone who humbles himself as this little child is the greatest in the Kingdom of Heaven.
I Corinthians 10:12 Therefore let him who thinks he stands take heed lest he fall.
Matthew 23:12 And whoever exalts himself will be humbled, and he who humbles himself will be exalted.
1 Corinthians 3:7 So then neither he who plants is anything, nor he who waters, but God who gives the increase.
Psalm 25:9 The humble He guides in justice, and the humble He teaches His way.
Psalm 147:6 The LORD lifts up the humble; He casts the wicked down to the ground.
Psalm 149:4 For the LORD takes pleasure in His people; He will beautify the humble with salvation.
Zechariah 9:9 Rejoice greatly, O daughter of Zion! Shout, O daughter of Jerusalem! Behold, your King is coming to you; He is just and having salvation, Lowly and riding on a donkey, A colt, the foal of a donkey.
James 4:10 Humble yourselves before the Lord, and he will lift you up.
I Corinthians 1:28-29 He chose the lowly things of this world and the despised things - and the things that are not - to nullify the things that are, so that no one may boast before him.
1 Peter 5:5 All of you, clothe yourselves with humility toward one another, because, "God opposes the proud, but gives grace to the humble."
Isaiah 66:2 This is the one I esteem: He who is humble and contrite in spirit, and trembles at my word.
Luke 17:10 So you also, when you have done everything you were told to do, should say, "We are unworthy servants; we have only done our duty."
Luke 14:11 For everyone who exalts himself will be humbled, and he who humbles himself will be exalted.
Philippians 2:3 Do nothing out of selfish ambition or vain conceit, but in humility consider others better than yourselves.
2 Corinthians 4:5 For we do not preach ourselves, but Jesus Christ as Lord, and ourselves as your servants for Jesus' sake.
Psalm 18:27 You save the humble but bring low those whose eyes are haughty.
Micah 6:8 He has shown you, O man, what is good. And what does the Lord require of you but to do justly, to love mercy, and to walk humbly with your God?

Quotes on Humility
Below is a selection of short quotes on the subject of humility.
“The Christian does not think God will love us because we are good, but that God will make us good because He loves us; just as the roof of a sunhouse does not attract the sun because it is bright, but becomes bright because the sun shines on it.” ~ C.S. Lewis
“Keep us little and unknown, prized and loved by God alone.” ~ Charles Wesley
"It is the laden bough that hangs low, and the most fruitful Christian who is the most humble." ~ Unknown
“Nothing will make us so charitable and tender to the faults of others, as, by self-examination, thoroughly to know our own.” ~ Francois Fenelon
“Humility and love are precisely the graces which the men of the world can understand, if they do not comprehend doctrines. They are the graces about which there is no mystery, and they are within reach of all classes. The poorest Christian can every day find occasion for practicing love and humility.” ~ J.C. Ryle
“He that is down needs fear no fall. He that is low, no pride; He that is humble, ever shall have God to be his Guide.” ~ John Bunyan
“Let not your peace rest in the utterances of men, for whether they put a good or bad construction on your conduct does not make you other than you are.” ~ Thomas a Kempis
“I am only a wick... It is only when the wick is soaked in oil that it can burn... If people begin to talk about the wick, there is generally something wrong with the burning.” ~ D. H. Dolman

More of Me????
By Becky A.
No, it's not that I love myself or this picture of me. I just need more of me to go around. Some days I feel like I need these versions of me:
~ Teacher who is kind, gentle, patient, and clear in instructions
~ Wife who can anticipate needs and meet them before he even thinks of them!
~ Housekeeper that LOVES deep cleaning, organizing, and keeping things in their rightful place ALL THE TIME.
~ Driver for those moments when I don't have to go myself but just have to take kids in and come right back.
~ Grocery shopper who can extreme coupon shop at Whole Foods and Fresh Market.
~ Nutritionist that knows all about organic, healthy foods and can whip up six weeks of menus in no time (with grocery lists) and place them on my computer so all I have to do is print them out and give them to the grocery shopper -- all on a budget.
~ Chef who has lots and lots of time to play around with healthy recipes that my family loves because that is all she has to do.
~ Fitness lover who doesn't mind the time it takes to get the exercise done without feeling guilty that she left the kids or is a bit behind in school now.
~ Fun lovin' mom who does nothing but crafts, plays Legos, finishes the EARTH/MOON build and paint project that has been sitting here on my table for weeks, etc.
~ Spiritual trainer who sees each heart issue and deals with it lovingly and immediately, showing God's love in the way she speaks and readily can go to Scripture to share with each child in the specific area.
~ Financially resourceful mom who knows all the best deals, where and when to get them, makes money online just by sitting down at the computer, and ALWAYS stays on budget.
~ Perfect friend, sister, daughter that doesn't mind hours on the phone catching up with people, never forgets a special day, sends cards often, prays fervently for each loved one, can be there at a moment's notice to help out, and can have lunches and coffees as much as the day is long.
These are the few "MEs" I would like today. Some days are just overwhelming in my mind when it comes to my TO-DO list(s).
But there is only one me. But this one me has the power of Almighty God to do what He has called me to do today. It's the same power that raised Jesus Christ from the dead. Nothing will be done perfectly, but maybe by His grace, something will be done that honors Him. Maybe today I will bring joy to someone in my household by showing them love and washing their feet (John 13). Possibly He will be pleased with my faithful effort to just do the next thing on my list and bear patiently with any "interruptions" He allows into my day.
Maybe.
Possibly.
Hopefully.
One small me, but one Great Big God.
